ABOUT
Iwannitosa Putra owns Putra Gayo, a mill and farm serving the Aceh Tengeh and Bener Meriah regions in northern Sumatra, Indonesia. The farm spans 250 hectares and is home to approximately 275,000 coffee trees, including Gayo 1, 2, and 3 varieties. Alongside coffee cultivation, a diverse range of shade trees, such as Lamtoro, Banana, Orange, Avocado, and Jackfruit, are grown to support a balanced ecosystem.
Unlike the common Sumatra wet-hulled process, Iwannitosa specializes in washed and natural coffees. This marks our second year purchasing natural processed coffee from Indonesia, and we’ve seen a clear improvement in quality compared to last year. A filter release felt like the right choice to showcase its cleaner cup profile and bring to light everything we love about this coffee. Expect a cup that is both adventurous and vibrant.
Indonesia’s coffee industry is filled with energetic young farmers eager to innovate and progress on the global stage. The country’s vast size leads to significant variations in harvest seasons from west to east. This results in wide differences in coffee production cycles. This lot is just one example, harvested in two separate periods: November to January and April to May.
